NMSC currently holds registers of two important products and services for the marine industry.

The National Register of Compliant Equipment (NRCE) is a register of products and systems (appliances) that have been approved as complying with the requirements of the relevant Sections of the USL Code/National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) or the National Standard for Recreational Boat Safety Equipment (NSRB).

Commonwealth and State/Territory Government marine authorities are responsible for the legislation which applies to safety equipment within their waters. For links to the relevant authority, click here.

Make a switch to 406

"If your 'e a skipper, make sure you upgrade to a 406 MHz EPIRB during 2008.

That's because from 1 February 2009, satellites will no longer process distress alerts from 121.5 MHz distress beacons. From this date, only 406 MHz EPIRBS will be detected.

Don't get caught out - make the switch to a 406."
