ROPES
National Record Of Practical Experience And Sea Service

The following notes on the ROPES scheme are written to assist industry, candidates for certificates of competency and trainers understand the ROPES Scheme for qualifying sea time reductions of up to 50% of the ordinary mandated time.

 It is an intention of the notes to make clear that a completed ROPES Book is not evidence of mastery and competence, but rather to clarify ROPES role in establishing that the candidate is entitled to a reduction in qualifying sea time.
