Standards and Guidelines

NMSC publishes a number of documents relating to commercial and recreational vessel safety including approved National Standards, Regulatory Impact Statements and other Guidance Manuals.
The official and most recent version of each publication is the document carrying an ISBN and/or the latest one that is posted on the website in PDF format.

Standards and Guidelines documents are generally free-of-charge.

NMSC issues a number of other publications including Safety Lines newsletter, Strategic Plan, Annual Report, National Record of Practical Experience and Sea Service (ROPES) and NMSC boating education campaign brochures and support materials

How do I obtain a copy?

Most publications are available for downloading from this website or by phoning the NMSC Secretariat on 02 6279 5865. However, some NMSC documents available on CD or in a printed format need to be ordered and may have a charge associated with them. Order forms which include details of costs are available from the Other NMSC Publications page.
