2) The applicability of the USL Code to a particular commercial vessel varies depending upon the relevant Federal, State or Territory legislation. Some legislation calls up the USL Code in full, some only part of the USL Code, some reproduces and modifies the USL Code requirements while some legislation may specify different requirements or standards. Users should refer to the relevant legislation and/or Marine Authority for advice as to the applicability of the USL Code sections to their vessel within the particular jurisdiction.
3) There have been six Amendment Lists that modify some of the requirements of the USL Code. However, these have not been universally adopted by the jurisdictions. They are provided as hard copies or PDF format, but users should check with the relevant Marine Safety Authority to determine the applicability of Amendment List 2, Amendment List 3, Amendment List 4, Amendment List 5 and Amendment List 6.
